Last night we had a friend over for dinner. We met him in Alabama in 1997 when my dad had a course, and he had come to S'pore on a official visit this week.
Over dinner, he just started sharing about how God has been using him in his church back in US to minister to people etc.
The issues shared during the long conversation over dinner were really encouraging. And what more, when we came back to S'pore after meeting him we never thought that we'd meet again, but 10 years later God brings him over here, that we might have dinner and what more - talk about how wonderful God has been.
Some things that were spoken of, if had been discussed 10 years back would have been utterly meaningless. But now, they had meaning and i could see how God moulded this family friend from being a non-practicing Chrisitan into a cell group leader who is impacting lives.
Now, there have been times even now in my prayer life that i have lost the urge to pray. especially when i see that nothing is changing. recently it has become so dry that i have to force myself to pray or else i wouldn't
and today my mum passed me this book - C.H.Spurgeon on Spiritual Leadership - (it was a x'mas gift to my parents, and she asked me to open it to see what is was)
I started reading and the first chapter is A Passion for Prayer.
1 Thess 5:17
"Pray without ceasing"
it really spoke to my heart and, Yea I'm commtting back to praying unendingly for my friends, family, school... and if i don't feel lyk praying, im gonna pray that i will feel re-energised to pray.
jie qi would know that i'm really not a reader - i've been putting away the books that he recommended me for a good 10mnths... yet i read this... hehes..
Its really amazing to see God's timing and surprises.. as we met the long lost friend and i opened a book and actually read it.
but also to see how God can work through us if only we'd let him.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a large crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.
